Anne Machetto, local yoga teacher, has held a class at St. Paul’s for five years on Tuesday mornings. Recently she changed the time to 9:30 a.m.

The style of yoga which Anne teaches is gentle for the body. We stretch, progress through a series of standing poses, then sitting poses and finally a ten-minute relaxation phase. She cautions us to never remain in a pose or position if it hurts. Each person participates to the extent they are capable. Some who cannot get down on the mat can remain in a chair and still benefit from stretching and working the muscles and joints.

Anne does not charge a fee but we make donations to her to defray her costs of driving to teach us. Piney provides a community service by inviting her to hold a class in our facility.

You will need a yoga mat which you can get at any store with a sporting goods department.

"Animate: Bible" is a refreshing, open-ended take on what the Bible is, how it came to be, and how we read it today. Learn how wrestling with the Bible can actually bring you to a deeper understanding of your faith. Each session encourages discussion, sketching, doodling, creating, and sharing.

Welcome to the website of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Piney Parish!

Although we have been in Southern Maryland since 1754, we believe God is still speaking and moving in the world today.

We don't claim to have all the answers, nor are we here to tell you how and what to think.

We are convinced that as we gather to worship, pray, and walk alongside one another as a community, we experience a foretaste of the unending love and peace awaiting us all.

It would be our privilege to be with you on the journey.
