UPCOMING EVENTS

September 25, 2016 9:10 AM
From the colonial era until well into the 20th century, the combination of faith and the income from tobacco built and sustained the Anglican parishes of Maryland. Franklin Robinson, a historian at Smithsonian’s Museum of American History and a parishioner at St. Thomas, Croom, in Upper Marlboro, recently published Tobacco and Faith in Southern Maryland detailing this story. Franklin will share insights from letters, diaries, journals, and personal papers of priests and parishioners illustrating tobacco’s role in the early church as well as the necessary and practical business of managing a parish: supporting a rector, maintaining church buildings, and nurturing the growth of congregations.

Books will be available for purchase ($40.00) and all proceeds go to St. Thomas, Croom.

Welcome to the website of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Piney Parish!

Although we have been in Southern Maryland since 1754, we believe God is still speaking and moving in the world today.

We don't claim to have all the answers, nor are we here to tell you how and what to think.

We are convinced that as we gather to worship, pray, and walk alongside one another as a community, we experience a foretaste of the unending love and peace awaiting us all.

It would be our privilege to be with you on the journey.
